Hi, ETD66SS.
I'm gonna take a stab in the dark and say itza later model 112E with direct electric start. I cain't you a series prefix 'cos I'm doing this outa my head where there's HEAPSA empty space for storage. LOL.
It looks in pretty good shape and, if there are no 'buried mysteries', ought to be a good little grader. That said though, It might pay to be VERY Wary 'cos it looks like Old Iron Habit mounted the steer 'tahrs'.

Is that a direct start conversion. Something don't look right between the engine and cab. I don't remember a separate hood section there although I might be mistaken. Price does seem a bit steep for it.
Roger, my 99E has a separate hood between the seat and engine. That is where the 4D batteries fit in.
Call and get a serial number. Ask how many hrs are on the hour meter. Looks like a 99e Cat 12. I maintained a fleet of 99e cats. We kept them in excellent shape, cab, glass, paint , lights ect. I sold them 20 years ago for over 20k each at a county auction. Mechanically they were completiy worn out. They had 30,000 hrs on them. Every box had excessive chrome in the oil samples. We visually inspected the gear boxes and found all the hard face worn off the gears. do not be fooled by there good looks. 8,000 for a low hr clean machine with newer tires is not to bad if you have a job for it to go to.
Thanks.
Couple personal jobs at my lot, driveways etc, it would basically be just another toy really. Like I need more toys.
It would not really make sense for me to buy it, but that has not stopped me in the past...

That makes sense if it is a 12. I was trying to figure it out based on it being a 112. I blew the picture up and could not tell if it has a 4 or 6 cylinder motor. If its a 99E, that would certainly change the value. Should not a 99E have the power steering built in to the front linkage? I'm not sure if I'm seeing it or not in the picture. Might need stronger glasses.
Roger, I'm thinking it's a 112 because the tool box in the rear is squared off rather then rounded and the 99E's have wheel weights built into the drive wheels. The engine compartment looks a little shorter too.

Hi, O-I-H and Paso Bob.
I originally said that I thought it was a 112E for the very reasons that you have just listed, Bob. Also, the power steering unit IS there, on top of the front of the frame. I dunno about on your side of the pond, but DowNunda, our 17K, the equivalent of your 99E, had the square tool box for most if not all of its production run. The power steering changed from a top mounted unit to a hydraulic ram that connected directly to the pitman arm down at the bottom of the vertical shaft. I'm not sure whether this came in towards the end of the 21F - your 70-71D - production run or whether it only came in with the 17K - your 99E.
The 17K series continued to be produced DowNunda right up until the first of the 'G' series arrived here. I have only ever seen ONE 112F here and have NEVER seen a 12F DowNunda. Funny thing is, I had NEVER seen a 112 here until I saw that 112F. Most if not all of our 14Es came out with the power assisted control box.
