Who has the best aftermarket hard bar for a D7G in stock. Dozer runs a big rake and V blade so I want a good one. Or is a salvage find my best option? I’ve repaired some in the past but this one is beyond repair really. I would rather just replace it.

Not sure I’m calling it the right thing but it’s the bar across the middle of dozer that holds dozer up in the middle. I’ll get a PN from my book in a bit.

I know the guys at Henderson very well they are a customer of ours have bought many sets of trunnions from them and a track adjuster didn’t realize they made bars when I posted this.

Do you think the cast solid bar is better than the welded
style made out of plate? This dozer gets abused honestly running a V blade and big Fleco Rake.

It is my belief that the cast bar is more robust than the fabricated bar. In severe applications I only ever fitted new genuine Caterpillar parts, I learnt this lesson after trying cheaper after market parts in my early contracting days. By your description of the work application, I would pay the extra.

Henderson doesn't show to make one for a D7G. Edit: I looked up the part number for a D7G and it shows to use the same 8P-1865 as the D7E listed on Henderson's web site.

Try Holt Used Parts in San Antonio...I've had good luck with them. I'd be more inclined to source a good used Cat bar than I would to buy a new aftermarket. Just call your local dealer and ask to be transferred to HC Used Parts in SA.

Also, Holt might be able to fix your old one. I broke one on my D8R, snapping the end socket off of it about 6" away from the end. They welded it back for $3500 where a new one at the time 10 years ago was around $8000 or so. It came back from the weld shop looking like a new one from the factory...you couldn't even tell it was welded. It was also warrantied not to break at the weld.

The 8P1865 is the same bar used in the E F and G. My G book shows the 8P1865 to be the correct PN.

I thought about just repairing this one myself. I may save it for a back up. I’ll call Henderson Monday.
