Hard chrome plating the journals gives the ultimate in wear surface.
There are a few challenges to doing it right, adequate thickness, bonding and minimum voids (expect some). Can be a challenge to get someone to do the grinding to size.
Thanks for that information, are there issues with hydrogen embrittlement causing the crankshaft to break in this application?
