Recently purchased this machine after about 8 hrs of use transmission oil started coming out of starter/solenoid. Ran perfectly fine and was just checking fluids at the end of day when it happened.

Drained almost 2 gallons from housing. No debris in the screen or any filters.

Planning on checking inlet and and outlet pressures of converter and I’m gonna make a hose to attach to scavenger pump outlet and clock the rate of return of the scavenger pump.

Unfortunately I believe this is a on going issue with this machine because previous owner states he replaced scavenger pump and converter in the past few years.

Any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

if the converter and scav. pump were replaced then I would first check the transmission breather for being clogged, then check the scav. pump for failure---if they first fitted the scav. pump to the main converter housing and then fitted the entire T/C unit to the flywheel housing it is known that the scav. pump shaft can get bent leading to the scav. pump failing.

Check the scav. pump screen for blockage and that the scav. pump gasket and its screen gasket for all ports being there especially with a home made gasket.

Same goes for checking gaskets for center holes on the breather tube that I think goes between the T/C housing and the bevel gear case or the trans. case.

Normal drain oil volume in the main converter housing after use and then run at low idle for about 2 mins before shutdown and then drained quickly is less than 1 gallon from memory. A long delay in draining can skew results due to the T/C piston ring seals slowly passing T/C oil into the main housing.

Make sure the starter is for a wet flywheel housing.

Almost 2 gallons is about right depending how you shut down and when you drained.

If the power divider was running overfull it would tend to overheat.
