Hi everyone I am new to the site! I have found this old Cat that has been sitting in a barn for 15years, I dont know the serial number yet just wondering if anyone on here may have an Idea what model meaning 6Uor7U. I can buy this dozer for $1800 a really good price I think. The pony motor runs but they cant get the big motor to start, they drained the fuel and put in fresh fuel plus bleed this system but it will try to start thats about it. Wondering if this would be a good deal and if anyone might have an idea why big engine wont start, I thought maybe decompression stuck or something simple like that. Well any input would be appreciated !! Thanks all

looks like it is reasonable order for a D4 6U (I think) and the price seems OK to me, I paid that for a siezed one this year in Aus, but US prices are much cheaper.

If the main engine turns it will go eventually, just a matter of sorting it out.

Before they get it started as the price will go up then!
It probably only needs to be bled out more.

Hey Mark32,

As others have said. Buy it, Before you start it. After you put all the work into it, get it started and running, they always add a higher price, "Now that it runs". Buy it, tralier it to your turf, then get it running. Do a search for starting proceedures and you should find how to do it. If you can't figure out the search engine, we can walk you through it. It's more than likely the bleeders screws didn't get bled properly. Heck, I'd tell him it's harder to get going than you thought, might be something real serious, price is now $1500. Work it baby, work it. LOL-glen

You know, that's a good point. It seem we always get the short end of the stick because we got a machine running before buying it. Not to stiff folks who are selling a machine, but it obviously isn't doing the present owner any good other than filling up their shop storage area. You are doing them a favor by clearing out unwanted "junk." If sellers can request a higher price once the machine runs, we should be able to seek a reduced price because it doesn't. πŸ‘

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
