i have a 1956 D4 7U crawler. recenty overhaul including turning the crank and new bearings. oil pressure is okay at higher RPM's but once it warms up, at idle oil pressure drops to 5 psi - can't figure out why. Any ideas why i am not getting better oil pressure at idle or how to cure it?

Was the oil pump rebuilt or checked out? What weight engine oil are you running?

Hi Mark,
the scan below may explain what you are seeing that is NORMAL for these old Cats.
It also gives a clue as to the correct oil to use for these old technology engines that need old technology oils--as OM is alluding to.
They run on oil flow not pressure.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
