Hi All,

Now that the 977L is finished, I am happy to tell you all that I was able to finally find a 983B! I could not be happier and have searched and searched! This is a beautiful tractor with only 4404 original hours on it. However, I am looking for a ripper and an AC system. If anyone has any leads I'd really appreciate it.

Sincerely,

Shay S.

Hi, sstutsman.
This outfit might be be worth a try as they have a 983 for sale with a ripper and they also part out some machines:

https://www.machinerytrader.com/listings/construction-equipment/for-sale/186775765/cat-983

Other 'possibles' would be Tractorparts in Boise, Idaho: http://tractorparts.com/

Florin tractors, Sacramento: https://www.yellowpages.com/sacramento-ca/mip/florin-tractor-parts-3975654

The ripper looks very Cat D6C-ish but I suspect that it would be wider in the mounts and the beam to suit the 983B.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

These guys have some torn down for parts:

https://www.machinerytrader.com/listings/construction-equipment/dismantled-machines/list/manufacturer/caterpillar/model/983

I'd think a ripper off a straight 983 would fit a B model.

Try to find a demo or MP bucket for it.

Deas,

Thank you, I have reached out but unfortunately I don't think we're going to be able to make that machine work.

I am working with an attachment company to see if they can make me one...but finding one would be much easy and a lot cheaper!!

Thank you All for your comments!

the machine arrived last night after a long journey!

Sincerely,
Shay S.

Did you pick that up from NY Shay? That license plate on the Dodge looks NY from this distance. That's a heck of a drive if so. I driving to the other side of OH next weekend to get a trailer which will be about as much fun as having teeth pulled..... Still, then I'll have something permanent to haul my yellow iron round with : )
