ran my 941 yesterday for 3or so hours and it ran fine and turned off fine, cranked it this morning and soon as it cranked it ran away and i had to pop the intake cover off and smoother it.

all of the linkage is moving but i feel like the lever is not pushing forward into the off position as much as it has been.

maybe something inside the governor has broke?

Hi, wlf89.

Does it feel like there is a distinct 'click', going through an extra resistance, when you move the throttle lever into or out of the stop position? Also, does it still have the full travel?

Like you, I would guess that the issue is inside the governor. But I'm not a mechanic, just a long-time-but-now-retired-and-LUVVIN'-it EX-operator.

its still makes the click when going from stop and run but the lever likes half inch from going all the way forward and feel like it used to move further forward buts it one of those things never paid much attention to so i could be wrong

Hi, wlf89.

Funny thing about 'gut feelings' - they often turn out to be right even more often than they turn out wrong.

I'd suggest checking your throttle linkage ALL the way through to the governor BEFORE doing anything more 'adventurous'. If memory serves me rightly, there is a panel down near the bottom of the throttle/powershift control tower that you can take off to check down there. Feel any and all pivot points to make sure none of them have restrictions, under floor included. Maybe a squirt or two of 'loose juice' on the pivot points too. Do the simple things first.

Hi, wlf89.

Then I think you need to check the rack movement inside the injection pump unit to see if it is moving freely as and when the throttle is moved - might need a LONG arm - or a second person - to do this.

Hi,wlf89.

I'll hafta leave it to somebody else to answer that as I am not a mechanic and have never been inside one of those governors. Hopefully, somebody with more knowledge than I have will chime in here shortly.

Have you been using Bio fuel in your machine? I had a similar experience, except with one of my CAT RC60 forklifts. Pump was gummed up, and functionality was inconsistent/run away etc. The CAT mechanic flushed system repeatedly with some high dollar fuel conditioner and the issue went away. Best of luck getting your machine operational. JM

Take this advice and hire someone who knows what they are doing to look into your problem.
