G'day guys I have a bit of a question for you learned blokes. I have come across a 922b loader it's a later 59a serial number I have been told to make an offer.
It had what is believed to be a head gasket problem. (Has had a new head and pre combustion chambers fitted but the bloke that owns it seems to think it never had the head tensioned down properly) tyres are worn brakes don't work but has new brake parts to go with it.

What should I offer? I Aus dollars would be great. But a septic tanks opinion is much appreciated as well

They are good little loaders. I still have a 922A. The 922A was made for one year and then they encreased the oscillation on the steering axle and raised the fenders while changing the designation to 922B. They made a lot of changes over the years including an engine change at some point. The brakes are air over hydraulic. The master cyclinder is under the floor at your feet. It takes two people to bleed them but its not a bad job. I have one wheel cylinder that leaks when it sets for a while. The left pedel disingages the tranny to stop forward motion when lifting the loader etc. It will not disengage if the brakes are not working. The middle pedal stops the machine with the tranny engaged. The biggest issue I hear about on these old loaders is the steering assembly located at the bottom of the steering shaft. If the bakelite center is gone from the steering wheel water goes down into them and raises havoc. If it has a cab it is usually not a problem. May be dry where you are at also. Mine has bith the bakelite top still on plus a cab and has been good on steering so I personally have not been into the steering. It sounds like parts are not found easily for the steering. Over all they are a great machine. They were available in both pony and 24V direct start. If you buy it and need any info I can photo copy sheets pertinent to what you need and post such as bleeding brakes, etc.

Not sure what they would sell for there but I paid U.S. $8,000 a few years ago. Mine had 500 hours on a Cat dealer rebuild on engine and a new torque when I purchased it.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
