I am looking to buy a 1926? Caterpillar 60. The brass plate with the serial number is missing(I assume its on the side of the seat like the later ones). Is there any other numbers on the machine to go by to find out the year? If I do find a serial number, is there a source for getting a brass plate or tag? Thanks. Dan.

There should be another brass tag with the ser.# on the case about a foot or so above the drawbar on the right side. Good Luck, ROY

Thanks, Roy. I have a 1928 cat 60, I can't find a tag above the draw bar. I'll keep looking.

In addition to the areas listed above, Sixty's were stamped on the front, outside of the right frame rail and on the flywheel.

Here are some pictures on the frame, flywheel and engine block:

The flywheel on my tractor is actually stamped with the number twice- once horizontally as in the picture and once vertically.

Thanks phildirt, with the aid of pictures I did find the serial #s on my 1928 60. Now when I go to get the 1926? I can verify that the year is correct. Thanks again. catmandan.
