My In-Laws are cleaning up their place and needed a flatbed brought over to put some old grain bins on for removal to the scrap yard. I took one of mine over last night and noticed the cat 60 that my wifes grandfather had used had been disturbed. They were going to have somebody come in and cut it up for scrap so the guy with the excavator had tried to pull it out of the trees. I dont think he damaged anything, looks like he put a pin in the hitch and was going to pull it out but only managed to turn it sideways a little. I was always going to look into the machine and see if it was worth some restoration. I told them to hold off and I will see if I can sell it or keep it myself and preserve it. The Grandpa replaced the engine with a wakusha power unit 4cyl and it had been used to remove trees and general farm use for years. I will get some of my Father in Laws memories of the machine next time I talk to him. Anyway I took some pics with my phone last night and will go back over next week and get some better pics. Is this machine worth anything close to scrap price? The undercarriage looked decent with my quick near dark inspection last night. Anyway, I got a reprieve for the machine and will try to save it. It is located near Silver Creek Nebraska, I have heavy equipment that could probably help somebody get it loaded on a trailer. Ross.

Notice the red Fuel Regulator in the one photo, its for Propane. So not only would that engine run on Gasoline but LPG also. If I had the time, I would restore it leaving the Waukesha Engine on it, just to give the fellows at the Factory something to talk about!

😆[/quote]I was thinking the same thing. I have a real soft spot for oddball creations where ingenuity by the original owners took over and they did what they had to do to keep a machine going and using what they had at hand or what was close by and cheap. It was not a throw away world back then.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
