Sounds like a LeTourneau nose mounted unit, you need to buy a manual on ebay, the clutches could be slipping or out of adjustment, or the drive coupling might be sheared.

mvoth - You have a LeTourneau, rear-mounted, single drum, AN model 40, Power Control Unit (PCU) fitted to your tractor. All the LeTourneau Power Control Units operate on the same basic principle, a cone clutch with external band brake .. and adjustment and repair are very similar with all models.

I have a copy (professional reprint) available, of the LeTourneau Power Control Unit instruction book, dated Feb 1942. This book give you all the installation, operation, maintenance, adjustment and repair info you need.

A copy will set you back US$25.00, post-paid, if you're interested. Email me and let me know if you want the copy, and I'll let you know the full details. It will take about 10 days to reach you. Regards - Ron Nash.
