Hey guys, I just found this site and am so excited I can hardly stand it. What a great source of information, I've already learned a lot by searching through the old posts. I have 2 Cat 22's, the one on the left is 2F 237 and the one on the right is 2F 7875 SP. I use #237 to disc the weeds down every spring and it still works great. #7875 was our original tractor and my father used it until the left steering clutch wore out and he just parked it about 20 years ago. I cleaned the carburetor and points the other day and gave it a shot of starting fluid and it fired off on the third pull, I couldn't believe it. My wife actually got a tear in her eye to see the old girl run again. To be honest, so did I.😖mile: I guess my first question is about the steering, can anyone tell me what is involved in replacing the frictions? There is no adjustment left.
Like I said, I'm thrilled to have found this site and hope to be able to contribute to the 22 threads whenever possible.
Thanks,
Randy

hello 22Randy ,good looking 22's .has 2F 7875 SP got a W in the serial number ?.looks like it is a wide model ? .
i can post the pages to help remove the all the parts to get at the clutches ,pages will be from the 15-20 manual but the info will be the same ,while you have it pulled down to repair the brakes it looks like the track frame pivots are worn letting the track spread out ,i mite be the way its sitting ? .
i don't think you can buy the clutch pack disc new so you will need to find someone that can reline them ,clutch brake shop some were ,someone else may have more info about the disc .
one thing to remember when putting it back together is that the tons to replace the clutch pack is only 10 ton max as bob says or they will break if pressed to the spec in the book ,
i will post a pic of the tool that you need to pull the clutch pack apart ,cannot remember who pic it was ?.
do you know someone with a good set of pullers/press ,you may need it to pull the sprocket and the clutch pack of and to replace them ?.
some big blocks of hard wood to block the tractor up are going to be a big help if you can get some .
hope the info helps ,bruce oz

I've got a carcass sitting in my yard that I bought for the rails and pads. Post the part number off from the front idlers or rear sprockets on your 22's and I'll use it to cross reference this carcass. It still has one complete steering clutch in it.

Thanks for the reply and link to those clutch pictures Bruce, that is very helpful. I'm not equipped with the proper pullers and press, but could look into a rental place and auto shop or something. I looked at the serial number again and there is no W in there, but it is much wider than the other tractor. You are right about the tracts, they are definitely toed out and look to be tilted out at the bottom also. On a sticky above, there are sources for service manuals, but there looks to be several different ones available. Is there a certain 15 or 20 manual that works best for a 22?
drujinin, that's a very generous offer, thank you so much. The numbers I found are 1B309 on the idler and 2B4839 on the sprocket.

hello 22Randy ,the pages above were from the cat 10 operator/service manual.
i have a few manuals ,cat 10 ,pv15 and 7c,cat 20 l and pl ,as you can see the pic are not the best but the cheapest way to get them ,between the 3 manuals you can find all the info you need for the 22.
the parts book show all the models use the same disc .you can just add more disc to bring the stack height of the disc back to specs if they are not totally worn out .if you get the disc from drujinin you could make up a set out of them all .
the bushing in the pivots are most likely worn out ,should be able to get new bushing made up if it hasn't worn the shaft and pivots to much .
keep at it ,bruce oz

I braved the killer mosquito's to read the front idlers both are 1B309. I couldn't see the numbers on the sprocket. I didn't want too many mosquitos draining me! I assume this means its a twentytwo chassis?
I will be off for surgery next week so it will be a couple of weeks before I can take it apart if you can wait. Let me know, Thanks!

Thanks Digger, that would be great. I do have the operator and parts manuals, so it is just a service manual that I'm needing.
I'm in no hurry at all drujinin, good luck with your surgery and watch out for those dang mosquito's. You don't want to end up needing a transfusion before you even get started.😖mile:

Randy, to my knowledge, there is no service manual for the 22 but you can get by with info out of the 20 and 15 manuals so I've been told.
Cheers,
Neil.

Thanks Neil, that's what I am learning also as I go. Per Bruce's suggestion, I am going to go with the Model 10 and Model 20 manuals to begin with.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
