Shift pattern as follows.
Reverse. forward left
1st forward right
2nd back left
3rd back right
I'm fairly certain all 3 speed tractors like Ten, Fifteen Twenty Two etc use this shift pattern but somebody out there will correct me if I'm wrong!

Don't forget about the "lockout" portion of the pattern. The shift pattern includes a slight sideways loading that prevents you from coming out of gear while under power. As an automotive pattern is typically an "H," the older Cats use the same, but the shifter lever is loaded to slide to the center of the shift pattern to lock into gear. If your machine is parked in gear, and you can't just pull the shifter back to neutral, push slightly away from center and downwards (or upwards depending on where in the shift pattern you are) to reach neutral.
