I have dropped the oil pump filter pan and removed the filter and it was really heavy with caked up grunge. I would like to remove the oil pump to clean it as well. Can that be done without removing the oil pan? Thanks in advance for the help. Leon

I do not think this is possible. The pump is just too big and bulky to get it through the access cover hole.

I just had pressure problems with my oil pump on my Twenty Two. So I was thinking the same thing, Can I get it out the inspection hole. NO WAY. So I put a jack under the transmission tang that hangs down lower than the oil pan. Took out the bolts to get the leaf spring out(EASY). Then took all the bolts out of the pan with a jack under the oil pan to let it down easy.(NOTE: the oil pan has to come straight down because of the oil pump) After that you can get to everyting you want.
My problem was the spring in the pressure control. It was crunched into 100 pieces.
just thought I should put 10 cents worth in.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
