Hi all
Have 22 S/N 2F-4546 that oil seal between transmission and turning clutch is leaking! Have not been able to pull cross shaft out. Have 10 ton hyd. jack on it, and it moves about 1 to 1-1/2''. Did it from both sides. I had it out about 4 years ago. What am I missing?

Thanks

There are multiple places where it can get hung up, plus the ridges worn into it . there are like pipe spacers underneath to maintain spacing on the diagonal struts and these fill with crap and crud. That would be my bet where the problem is..go underneath and see that these spacers are "free"" on the cross shaft, using penetrating oil and a pipe wrench alternately till they spin and slide around on the cross shaft freely.... on mine (done after it was removed) i even welded a temporary angle iron or something to the pipe spacer to give me something to "whack on" with a hammer (and i was able to whack it clockwise and CCW by that method and i eventually got it freed up.Not sure how far along you are , but perhaps you can remove the one inch studs (by using standard stud removal tricks) that screw into the final housing.. then you could leave the cross shaft alone???? If the studs were removed the bracket would just stay on the shaft till later, i removed the studs (actually mine kinda backed out from the final housing like a bolt.... lucky day for me!!!only time that happened!!!!) ... Also,, if you have a 22 wide????? you know you need to pull the side frames to pull the sprocket to pull the final housing... Anyways i just took three 22 cross shafts apart in the last couple months to get at 6 final drives for repair... I think i can help you out with something... call me 920-210-2875 unless you already got it apart, but you could call me even if you did get it already,,, "misery loves company" as they say, we can relate and figure out how to do it better next time by comparing notes on this BB... Hi nw4evr
I just put a 20 ton hyd. jack on it, got it out. transmission grease in clutch pack, break!
Weep hole was not open.
Also I use a drill press to release clutch springs, by way off cut down 3/8''drive socket in drill press. Works well, no fuss,no mess. Will post pictures some time soon.

Thanks for your insight and my problem.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
