I have a Cart 15 PV 7055 and parts book PV1 to 7559 .The magneto on my tractor is similar to the 5f3908 shown in parts book ,but not the same . I am wondering if there is a updated mag that replaced the 5f3908 as I do not have a book above PV 7559 . I am looking for the points and condensor part numbers

I have what looks in appearance to be a 5f3908 Cat replacement mag on the tractor ,but the breaker assembly 6f5856 , which is no longer available from Cat , looks different in the parts book from what I see in the mag on the tractor . I am wondering if there was a Cat change in the 5f3908 mag or breaker assembly at some point. The end cap is different from what is shown in the parts book with no access cover in the lower part of the cap to get access to the points without removing the entire cap .
The same 5f3908 mag according to the parts books I have was offered as a replacement on tractors 15, 20 and 25 .
Has anyone have a parts source for old Ignition breaker points and condenser
s for old magnetos ????
I have removed the mag and cleaned the points to temporary keep the tractor running .but the fiber pad that contacts the cam is deteriorating ,so this is a temporary solution to replacing the breaker points. no luck finding a replacement with Napa Parts

Old Magnet ,Do you have any information on the 5f3908 mag or possible updates to this mag ?

I don't have the parts books for the 15. Are you sure it has the Eisemann GV-4 magneto? If so there is/are some parts interchange ability with similar mags. Key is to ID what you have.

I have the original parts books for Cat 15 ,20 25 ,and 28 tractors each book uses the 5f3908 Caterpillar mag as a replacement for the Eisemann No.L-1369 mag as shown in the parts books
I definitely have the 5f3908 magneto or a changed version of the 5f3908 on my cat PV7055
I called the local Cat dealer and the 5f3908 is discontinued as well as the 6f5856 breaker assembly or points shown in the mag
Amazingly I found the condensor 6f5827 which changed to 6f6641 on Machinery Trader parts .No luck on the 6f5856 breaker points
Seemed to hit a dead end on any parts for the 5f3908 Cat mag
Unless there is a outside vender of after market reproduction parts or old stock, anyone with these tractors with the changed Cat mag is in trouble

I'm out of my league here but from what I read the 5F3908 was a later replacement for the GV-4 and appears to be an American Bosch # MJB 4A 102 magneto. Maybe that explains the difference.

Don't see him post here much any more but "naylorbros" would probably know.

Yes, that is an American Bosch MJB 4A 102 magneto.
Breaker lever w/point & springs Part #LE522
Contact bracket w/point Part #BK525
Condenser w/bracket & lead Part #CW524

Standard Magneto has the LE522
Machinery Trader shows the BK525
I didn't look very far for the CW524. It's a 0.28 to 0.32 microfarad that any replacement could be made to work.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
