I have a Cat 12E 38E serial.
The power steering coupling has let go.
I can remove the coupling from the pump, nut on the shaft.
I can't see how the coupling on the pto tover is removed maybe just screwed on.
Anyone have a parts breakdown.
Thanks
Mark

Looks like the coupling is simply slid onto the splined shaft with a pin or ring in the center to keep it from going too far forward or back. It might actually be pinned to the drive shaft in which case you would unbolt the front of the power control drive box and pull the front bearing cup off exposing the whole shaft extension and coupling.

I am looking at 99E parts book.

Thankyou.
Have you a drawing of the coupling that goes on that shaft?
There should also be a seal on the extension.

There is just the splined coupler. Spline on hydraulic pump and spline on the control tower shaft. There is no seal on hydraulic pump end of shaft. The hydraulic pump seals that end of the shaft and housing. Had mine apart last year to reset the timken load on the bearings. Coupler should slide right off the lower control shaft once the hydraulic pump is removed.

Sorry, I have never had one apart. The parts book picture is all I have I think. Typically the loose double female coupling has a pin or snapring in the center to keep it centered over the space between the ends of the two shafts. If it doesn't want to slide off the shaft it could be pinned to the shaft but I think it is more likely partially stripped out and in a bind. I bet it will tap right off once you remove the housing extension and can get a swing at it with a hammer.
