Re the sheaves - Throw enough money at it and virtually anything is possible but Stuss lives even further away from you than I do, by almost another 3,000 miles - Albany, Western Australia -DowNunda.
I would suggest that those plates have been welded on there as extra guides for the ejector. They don't reach right to the lower edge of the side rail and the paint is only worn off down to that level over the front section of the side rail. Also, they appear to be only welded to the ejector and not to the side rail.

Yes, that is a long way Deas. My unit was halfway murdered by an incompetent and missing a few sheave supports, sheaves, bearings, and pins.
I have recreated some supports, borrowed other parts but still short of completion.
