I can't zoom in very clearly, but it looks like the tailgate has been welded to the bowl? I see some of the sheaves are missing. If this unit is going to be scrapped, I would love to have the rest of the sheaves. And the fair lead assembly on the neck.

Some more info. One of my units has Military plates. One plate indicating some sort of modification, but I haven't looked into the details yet

Hi, STEPHEN.
Re the sheaves - Throw enough money at it and virtually anything is possible but Stuss lives even further away from you than I do, by almost another 3,000 miles - Albany, Western Australia -DowNunda.

I would suggest that those plates have been welded on there as extra guides for the ejector. They don't reach right to the lower edge of the side rail and the paint is only worn off down to that level over the front section of the side rail. Also, they appear to be only welded to the ejector and not to the side rail.

Just my 0.02.

Yes, that is a long way Deas. My unit was halfway murdered by an incompetent and missing a few sheave supports, sheaves, bearings, and pins.
I have recreated some supports, borrowed other parts but still short of completion.

Nice picture of the 5T pulling the Model D. I'd be curious to know the unladen weight difference of the "D" vs. a Cat 40. I'd say the 40 would have a little more capacity.
D-4 7U-43159 with 4S dozer and Cat 40 scraper, D-7 3T-1179 with Cat 7S hydraulic dozer, D-7 17A 13,944, D-8 14A-1160 with Cat 8S cable dozer, Cat 12-99E-4433 Grader. All runners and users.

"D" 3.5/4.0 cubic yds. weighs 7,000 lbs.
"40" 3.6/4.5 cubic yds. weighs 7,500 lbs.
