Good morning and Merry Christmas all,

I'm not having much luck with the search for a carburetor float assembly for my D13000 pony motor. The old float had a temporary fix from the previous owner that has gone democratic. I'll take it in to the radiator shop and see if they can braze it but I would like to find one in better condition. I have the original parts manual which has all the parts listed with Zenith numbers. The float is listed as a C85-19. The carburetor itself has a Caterpillar number, 4B4955. So 2 questions, as I am still pretty new to this -

1. Is there a way to translate the CAT carb # to a Zenith carb number?

2. Am I searching correctly using the Zenith C-85-19 number? The parts manual is from 1939, so I don't know if they changed numbers in the intervening years.

Thank you everyone,

Chris

Hi cjrampley,
Merry Christmas to you to, hope you have a great one. I just recently rebuilt the carb on my car 12 8t grader so I know what you are going through. Them old carbs can be hard to find parts for and get part numbers and carb numbers. I went through nebraska machinery company my states cat dealer but if you Google the carburetor shop they also have all kinds of info on finding the zenith numbers to. Hope this helps and have a merry Christmas.

Chris, the basic Zenith carb you have is a 22AX8, so try looking for a float that way. Please don't let anyone braze it, too much heat. Some gentle soldering will do. Do some research and you may feel up to the task. Most readers here like to see what you have, so please post a pic of the float and also the engine, tractor, etc.

9B4921 is a good number gleaned for a earlier post. Florin shows stock. If you do get one please save the old one for someone to practice on.

Thanks Stephen.

I have a new website to add to my favorites list! It says Florin has 115 of them. I'll give them a call this week and get one coming.

Finding parts for the engine is turning out to be easier than finding decent wood for the boat it sits in. Thanks again.

When I get it I'll post photos on the boat blog:

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
