When trying to reply to my threads I often get asked to "Please complete the captcha challenge" and the system won't let me reply no matter what I try. It seems if I wait a number of days then I can replay. What am I doing wrong?

Hi, seyser.

Look for that captcha challenge BEFORE you start typing your post or reply. I have found in the past that it seems to magically 'disappear' somewhere along the line once you start typing.

Hope this helps. Just one more 'bug' for the 'boffins' to find the right 'insect spray' to get rid of it. BEYOND my pay grade.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Deas - Thanks for the advice. I don't ever see anything pop up before or after I try posting. I'm generally on my work computer so I'm guessing there is a pop up blocker enabled.

Hi seyser, do you stay logged in all the time? I think there's a checkbox on the sign-in page asking if you want to remain signed in, even if you close your browser. I use Safari browser on Mac and I see you use Chrome - I think on Windows, so that combination might behave differently to me. I once did get a captcha pop-up but haven't since not long after the last set of bugs were treated (a few months ago). Could you test whether logging out, closing your browser, re-opening and logging back in and if it appears, check that checkbox before you hit the login button, helps with the captcha/posting issue. Depending on the admin settings, the captcha can always appear or only appear under selected circumstances e.g. if the server doesn't have a current session for you (that's what the "remain signed in" tells the server).

Neil, I appreciate you helping with this. I did everthing that you listed but still cant replay to my "new addition to the herd" thread. I can obviously reply to this thread. I do generally stay logging in. I logged out and closed browser, etc. Tried a few different ways still with same results.

I'll hafta bow out on this one. Neil's knowledge of computers and their antics is WAY above my pay grade. Maybe you should also DM Deebo and have get the administrators on to it.

Just my 0.02.

Fellas - I think Deebo is looking into this issue - I attempted to view and comment to posts without logging in, no "dice" and no captcha. Let's see what comes of this, maybe just another of those long growing pains? - cts

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
