Have been looking for a C frame for one of my 9U's, a guy phoned me today offering one off a D6C for $500.00
Anybody here know if the C frame from a C will fit the 9U?
The one he has is located several hundred miles away and I have no time right now to go and measure it.
Price seems right.
Thanks.

I'd say no, to many different part numbers with no interchange.
Your limited to 9U or D6B 44A .

Thanks Old Magnet, I was hoping you'd chime in, your answers carry a lot of weight, even if it was not the answer I wanted to hear!
I figured the D6C would probably not work for me, assume it is a larger machine.

Rmyram I appreciate hearing from you, you offered me some help with engines back in January.
I may need to make a trip up your way to discuss parts before winter if I can get away.
Already have an offer on a pair of C frames + a parts '9U over in Vanderhoof, again if I can make the time to get away.

I have revised my plans and am keeping the 'spare' '9U now, since I have had the opportunity to use it a fair bit this fall and it runs so darn sweet:eyebrows:.
Fitted a hefty 11' clearing blade to it this summer, and am happy as a pig in $--- with it so far.
Took a chance on the blade at an auction, excellent low price, figured I could recoup the cost in scrap if I had to but voila!
New plan is to use the one for clearing and brushing, and the other for grading/spreading/smoothing.

Just need to rebuild or replace the pony engine on my old one.

Thanks again for the help guys.

If you can get the blade and it's s/n that goes with the D6C "C" frame I can check further. The whole assembly will most likely work, it's just matching it to the lighter 9U blade that is in question.

Hello , the D6C frame never fits a D6 9U .
Some years ago I had to fit a D6C C-frame on a 4T D7 . I had to adapt the push arms completely . The C-frame of the D6C is even wider than the D7 was !
Have a nice day . johan7

Hi johan7,

Is it the width (thickness) of the push arms themselves that is the problem? Also I suspect the inside arm to arm dimension is different.

The 9U, D6C and 3T/4T are all the same 74 inch track gauge but mountings are different.

Just had another offer of a C frame from a chap with a D7-4T, he is parting it out 'cause the main engine blew up.

For interests sake, would the C frame off a 4T fit a 9U?

Answer is no. Different trunnion, bearing and cap. C frame outside width is 6 inches wider than the 9U.
Different width blade, different braces and angle adjustment fittings etc.
Again you are limited to 9U and D6B 44Axxxx.

Hello Old Magnet ,
It took some time to photograph the C-frame of that D6C . The push arm was straight in the past , but I cut , aligned and welded it so that it was in line with the trunnions of that D7 4T.
I had to move inwards approx 4 cm on both sides .
Have a nice day .

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
