I found these interesting reading. Couldn't find anything for the Bishop fenders. I'm wondering if FS Bishop built his under an agreement with Bowman.

Here's a couple of links...

The two links above are both Bowman Patents.

The above DeLand patent is also interesting. FS Bishop sent a post card out that said "Invitation extended to investigate the DeLand tree protector against wind and frost - Mfc By F. S. Bishop."

I have a pic of the post card but couldn't figure out how to post it.

OrchardCat,
Great information. I wonder when Caterpillar patent their citrus fenders. I know the 22 was the first one that Caterpillar put citrus fenders on. Then soon after the D2 and others. Although the others were similar to the configuration of the Bishop and Bowman fenders.

I looked for a fender patent from Caterpillar, but couldn't turn one up. I was wondering the same thing. I found a couple of patents for F. S. Bishop, but they dealt with walnut harvesting equipment, which if you've seen the brass tags on his fenders, they mention walnut harvesting equipment and welding.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
