Not cat-related but a rare crawler for sale in the Tacoma area. Just the right gift for Father's Day for a John Deere lover. http://medford.craigslist.org/grd/3856844488.html

Hi, 4D2Ken.
Methinks that with all its woes, $29.00 might be a more realistic price. In all seriousness, what sort of a child would spend almost three grand just to inflict that on their poor unsuspecting, loving father? A collector would HAVE to be KEEN to take that on at that price.

I would guess that more than the asking price would be needed just to get it running and driving and how do you get it on a truck to get it to someplace where you can work on it?

Just my 0.02.

I would love to get that as a fathers day gift! engine parts are plentiful, and JD has a large following if you are interested in resale.

I'd jump on that in a minute if it was close...A BO Linderman is easily worth 10 Grand restored...like Stephen said, engine parts are no problem, & the undercarriage is pretty good...
Only scary part is the final drive, there could be some Unobtainium pieces in there...

Right on about those final drives. Sprockets had a habit of coming loose and ruining the shaft, and of course they occasionally got busted. Of course there are machinists that can make just about every part in there for a price, and welders that can do wonders that were never dreamed of fifty years ago when these things were still in use...

If I remember correctly, you have to remove the final drive to get the steering clutch and brakes out. So it could be something fairly simple that caused the final drive to be pulled.

I'm a little jealous of the starting drill compared to my D2's. I also enjoy hearing that Deere engine running.
