Bill has just contacted me and shared the following:

Erik, I would like for you to remove my add from the ACMOC web site as I'm no longer in business. We are selling our home and moving into a duplex, with a one car garage too!!
It was a great ride, met a lot of nice guys, all paid by check and not once did any one try and bet me out of any money. One of our members is storing the test bench for now.
Thanks again for your help on this project.
BILL WALTER

For those of you who may not know Bill he is a founding member of Chapter 1 and for many years provided service for Diesel Caterpillars by repairing injector and pumps.

Thank you Bill for your many years of dedication to the Caterpillar Collection Community and i hope retirement finds you well as you listen to your neighbors through the wall of your duplex!

I never sent anything to him to be fixed, but he was a wealth of knowledge when I would call and pick his brain on situations that I would come across. He was always willing to teach me ( over the phone) on how to get me through the repairs I was having trouble with.
Enjoy your retirement from repairing the best yellow equipment out there.

Dang, I had some injection pumps repaired by Bill and my D4 ran like a new one...I hope he teaches the new guy everything he knows.

Congratulations on the retirement.

I was talking to a CAT Manager out of Houston back in November, it seems that even in the higher circles of Supply and Logistics he is highly regarded and recommended!
It will take a dedicated person to fill his shoes!

Thanks to all who sent those words along. I've been retired from a Cat dealership since 1999. Our chapter received the old test bench and club members suggested that I store it. After some time I thought; Why not see if there was a need for rebuilding and testing pumps and injectors. I have not counted as to how many of these units I went through. I even rebuilt transfer pumps and updated the seals by using lip type seals.
It was a pleasure visiting with all you great guys over the years. As soon as we sell our current home ,we're moving into a duplex with no room to extend this work. We'll have to see if this business can be revived.
So when Chris said I retired, that meant from the fuel system repair business. Thanks to all. Bill Walter

Hi, Bill Walter.

You may or may not remember it but we met briefly at a small show in Kansas in 2011, 6 weeks after Joplin. I would like to thank you for all that you have done, both for the club and for Cat collectors, over many years. It may be too late to warn you but I think it is a bad move to retire. I 'pulled the pin' at the end of February, 2015. I have already been dragged back - kicking and screaming all the way, of course - 5 times here in DowNunda and now the Santa Margarita Ranch keeps flying me over there to help them find the machines they need for several projects on the ranch.

It'za TERRIBLE life, but I suppose that somebody's gotta do it.

Stay well and happy and enjoy whatever leisure you can manage to grab out of it.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
