I'm in the process of restoring a great running Big Twenty that has been in the family since about 1940. In the 1950tys, dad took off the Eisemann mag and replaced it with a WICO AL 1007 S/N 139?8. The WICO mag works great, but I inhereted the Eisemann he removed and another WICO. I don't know if either are hot, but if interested they could be available at a fair price. Here is the only ID info I can find on them:
EISEMANN - PJUP25 and S26793 These are small numbers at the bottom of two (1 1/4" X 2 3/4") verticly mounted metal plates riveted on each side of the mag. No other writing is visable except the Eisemann name molded into the casting.

WICO: This is a Series A mag - Model # 731B I'm not sure what this was from. I don't think it was ever on the Cat 20.
Both mags turn fine, but I have not tried to bench test them.

I want to take my restoration of the Twenty back to the original paint (gray and red) and add engine side curtains. Need info on paint to use and where to buy side curtains (used or new). Will also need the 4 hold down catches for the curtains.

Thanks in advance for any help. I'm in Tehachapi, CA, near Bakersfield

Grey paint color code is FEDERAL STANDARD 595B 26134. The 20 had 2 diff styles of hood latches, first you need to know what style yours had. I cant beleave you would go to all that trouble restoring and not put the orig. mag back on it

Thanks for the paint information. I wasn't aware there were two kinds of side panel catches. I do know it takes 4 and they hook into round holes on the solid panels below the louvered engine curtains. My SN is PL 4035 so I'll look them up in my parts manual.

I don't think the Eisemann mag my dad removed was the orig. mag. It is similar too, but not quite the same as the drawings in my parts manual. The WICO mag on the machine is really hot and the tractor often starts with just 1 or 2 pulls. So I think I would be wise to leave it alone.

If you have the holes in the lower engine side panels then its the late style and you can still buy them new from Cat Dealer part no. T537 they call it a fastener, that is a Cat ten number but the should be able to cross ref. and get new part no.the same latch that they used from the 30s til modern days up until they started making rubber fasteners. early were made from cast parts and put together and take apart the later ones were made of stamped metal and put together so you cant take apart but most people cant tel or dont know the diffrence

Thanks Willie. Glad to know the fasteners can still be purchased from CAT. I heard there is a guy in Hollister CA that fabtrcates aftermarket louvered side curtains.
