Can anyone provide me with the wear chart information for the Berco CR 1999 and CR 2000 chain links that are on my D6B (SN: 44A1621)? How high should they be when new, how high when 50% worn, and how high when 100% worn? I have a set on my D6B, and would like to know how much life they have left in them. Thank You.

Old Magnet - Thanks for the info. According to those charts at Crawler Heaven, my links AND pins&bushings are all right at 100% worn. The sprockets are pretty worn too. The rollers and idler seem "OK" for the most part. They all turn, and have oil in them. So the next question is: what to do? I know that's a tough one. The machine is a "hobby" machine for me, so I can't spend a lot of money on it, and it isn't used much. On the other hand, I don't want it to break down out in the north 40 and become a permanent ornament. Does any one know of any bone yards within 100 miles of Rochester, New York? What would I expect to pay for a set of used tracks with 50-75% wear left on them? Alternately, does anyone know of a track shop within 100 miles of Roch., NY? Thanks for any and all pointers.

Yes, that's a dilemma that a lot of folks face. Might be able to get a little more life if the pins and bushings have not already been turned but probably wouldn't warrant the cost. Are the rollers hitting the track pin bosses? Sprockets can be re-ringed or built up with weld, as well as rollers. Problem is you just about have to do the whole works or your running new (or rebuilt) parts against old.
Finding good used tracks are kind of a long shot and junkies usually base their prices on 1/2 the cost of new for good used.

Also on the D6, they are not very forgiving if you over extend the track adjustment screw which results in stripping the threads in the nut.

Also be aware that replacement tracks and sprockets available now are actually D5 units that are 6.91 inch pitch requiring a sprocket change. The old pitch was 6.75 inch.

Old Magnet - Thanks for all the good info. The pins&bushings have already been turned, unfortunately. No, the pin bosses are not hitting the roller flanges. I have an AC stick welder, and some welding experience. If I were going to try to build up the sprocket teeth and rollers, what type, or types of rod would you recommend, and any pointers on welding technique? Thanks.

You might want to go look at these. the measurement for length seems to be incorrect, as in not long enough for new ones. Maybe they are compressed for the measurement instead of stretched like they're supposed to be. Or the measurement just incorrectly done.

they're a lot closer to you than me๐Ÿ˜„

for the sprockets, look at this thread

ccjersey - Thanks for your reply. The sprocket rebuilding information sounds very interesting to a low-budget do-it-yourselfer like me. Building up the sprocket teeth sounds like something I could handle. At least then my bushings wouldn't be riding out on the tips of the teeth. How about building up the roller diameter - anyone got any pointers on the best way to do this? As for the Ebay tracks - I actually did go look at them last week. They're about 90 miles from me. Thanks Again.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
