D47U battery box, fender mounted. Botom corroded out. Sides and top okay. Anyone recondition these--like rebuild bottom and inside vertical strips? Or can these pieces be purchased from CAT? Need advice.

Unless you're a purist and want to keep the critter "box stock", I'd just go ahead and build a new one. Usually by the time the bottom is ready to fall out, the sides are pretty well corroded as well and so thin it's tough to weld the new parts to. Any good sheet metal shop should be able to duplicate what you have, or if you have a welder and torches just go ahead and build it yourself.
