I am looking very seriously at purchasing a Caterpillar Auto Patrol. It has been sitting for sometime now but the engine runs and it seems to be in overall good condition other then the wooden cab is in need of restoration. I looked on the forum here and determined it to be between a 37' and 40' (ser # 1k59). The tires a worn and the glass is broke but like I said it runs, also it has a cable operated snow wing on it. Can anyone tell me anything more about it and am I being took at $2500?
Thank you!
Eric

The information I have does indicate that it is a 1938 Diesel #10 autopatrol, single axle drive, weighing around 13,660 pounds for the base machine. I believe it should have a 4 cylinder 4 1/4" bore x 5 1/2" stroke engine (D4400-same as the D4 tractor of that era) rated 44 hp @1400 rpm in it.

My opinion is 2500 is a little high if it doesn't have decent tires etc.

Any pictures?
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

Did you get any pics and did you pick it up? Tires aren't bad to find, I have a #9 and the fronts are common truck tires (9.00-20) the rears are 24" and are available. I got some used ones on lock rims off a semi cheap (for now).

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
