Who doesn’t love a good auction?

Is it the thrill of finding a treasure or accumulating things we might “need” for future projects?

I went to a local estate sale of sorts and had the pleasure of socializing with other purchasers. Buzz Stetler from Stockton, CA and the infamous Gary Berrington from Nevada. We got a chuckle out of what we didn’t get and applauded some folks that made some very nice deals.

I didn’t wish to pay so much for the pallet of cutting edges, but they were still inexpensive and I have a use for them. There’s an old Chinese saying in regards to a big platter of Chow Mein: “The good stuff is on the bottom”…This case being the extra stuff I w

asn’t expecting, but belong in my parts stash as well. Some thermoids, pinion latches, pony starter pinion and WHAT are these bushings for? Rubberized, two sizes. Any ideas? Asking the experts! TIA. JM

If those are rubber covered springs they go in the front idler bearing blocks.

The rubber things go in idler yokes, they hold the plate down that rides on top of track frame. maybe D6 or D7? Most of the thermoids are in bad shape. Good thing I resisted bidding.

I bought new "springs" for my D2 idler blocks and they look the same, just smaller I guess. They just look like a piece of rubber tube with holes in it for "give"

I think I paid too much, but it still comes out to $60 per edge, and I have a purpose for them. The pinion latches don't take up any space; the pinion was unused as well, just rusty from the elements. It makes one wonder where this stuff came from originally. The things I do for entertainment. I got to visit with my friend with the pink hair at check-out as well, so it was worth the trip!

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
