Since ALL THE PROFIT FROM MODELS SUPPORTS THIS CLUB;, could anyone give us an update on the status of the D-4, I spent the weekend
at a farm show selling models and EVERY Cat person assumed that at least I would know?????????? No mention in last magazine???????
I am expected to KNOW these things?????:eek2::eek2::eek2::eek2::eek2: If it is the MAIN support of the club; someone can post some
info on here once a month??????????????????

Considering the club still has $522k in model inventory and sales are just a trickle, investing in another model doesn't look like a good investment.

Also the club is still losing money ($7,390 for the month of January/14) which is late reporting for May/June. At least it is a bit better than the $11k per month loss of six months ago.

Still cost of publishing and overhead is not being covered by net income.

Sure hope that 1st Gear can build this model. They really do a great job for the price.

1st Gear does do a nice job. I do not collect the models but get tempted when ever I see one 👍

I believe that SpecCast, who did the D-2's and Norscott can do an excelllent job on this model and they are pretty much the other two that have
done CAT models. If Norscott does it they can include it in their catalog for a year or two like they did the D-22 and D-20!!

Norscot just had some problems with they moved production facilities; from a model sellers perspective, I think they are the best ones to go with because they reach a bigger audience that might attract new Members to ACMOC. I still have D-22's in stock I got directly from Norscot and when people buy and see the "produced under license of ACMOC" I am quick to explain there is a club that celebrates the restoration of the real old ones and the Models of them!
In the case of the D-2, SpecCast only produced the FIRST model for the National Toy Contruction show in a very limited edition and only ACMOC marketed the other variations. I liked the job they did on it, and the exclusivity made more money for ACMOC. I still have customers hunting the
first one, but with I believe 5,000 made, they are hard to find, with much demand.

I would certainly agree with producing another D-2; some changes could easily be made and if sold for about the same as the
regular D-2 with blade/ripper,etc, which is now ini the $150-160 range; would leave some profit for the club and fill in that first D-2 for
some that don't want to hunt down a really rare one and maybe pay $250.
I know that SpecCast had photographed and measured a Cat Fifteen a few years ago and as it was mentioned in the magazine; I sure get
questions about it also! I am in an area where many small CATS were used in vegetables and avocado farms so smaller is better for many of
us! 😄

It was surprising to me that we had strong responses from all of the different publications, and we had many people call the office and say they saw our ad and didn't previously know anything about the Club. A number of new members joined, even though they weren't buying a model. I think the further we can expand our presence to new interested parties, the better.

I attended an antique machinery show recently and brought along a half dozen of my weathered models to showcase (a few 2-tons, Twenties, Twenty Twos). I had my iPad and was showing some people the ACMOC production posts of my earlier Twenty and Twenty Two models which introduced them to 1) the ACMOC forum and 2) to 3D printing. I was surprised how many people said they didn't know about the ACMOC (let alone 3D printing). Some were even Cat owners, albeit these were older gentlemen that expressed their disinterest in computers. However, many were very excited to learn about the organization and what it represents.

I'm sure introducing a new model to the fleet is no simple task and I have absolute appreciation for the organization's efforts. Personally, I'm excited to get my hands on a D4 and add a little age to it.

Is the committee looking at Tonkin and Classic Construction Models as a possible vendor?

I would like commend the committee and the BOD for their efforts in all areas on behalf of the club.
