Merry Christmas and happy new year's amigos. Well, my 91 year old great aunt gave me a very cool Christmas gift this year. Old pics of my Grandpa and Grandma. She has mentioned that her late husband (my Gramps brother) and my Gramps had a D2 prior to the D4 7U they had, of which I am currently trying to acquire. That's a whole another story but curious after looking at the pics these pics don't look like a D2. Any ideas what this old girl is? Its so gaurded up for bush work that my usual clues aren't there plus vertical hyd lift cylinders and on and on. I heard from my dad as well who passed away in 1996 that there was infact a D2 so somewhere there ought to be some evidence. Also thrown in the mix is my grandparents surplus Jeep. My family were sawmillers, loggers and dabbled in farming in the Cherryville, BC area which is about an hour or so northeast of Kelowna. Much thanks for having a look.

The Jeep in the first pic I think is civilian. Gas cap small. Military was 4 inch. Tool holder on side is is civilian. running lights on grill area are civilian.

The Jeep is not a military Willy’s MB or Ford GPW. It is a civilian CJ2A.

Hi, Bursitis.
I yain't no 'hex-spurt' on the topic but I suspect that the HD6s weren't built until after WW2. They had a similar upward-sloping hood to the HD11, HD16 and HD21 and were originally powered with Buda diesels - later to become Allis Chalmers when A-C bought them out.

No doubt somebody will stomp on me if'n I'm wrong.

Yes, HD-5 or HD-6. Check out the top of the air cleaner. Also looks like a CARCO winch on the back.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
