Just got back from Idaho with my newest junker.
First 5j that I have bought ser 5j10180 one of the last ones according to the registry.
The overall tractor looks really straight, bushings are round, rails are not to bad and the growsers are really good.
The poney turns over, but befor I get to aggressive i think I will spray alittle oil down the cyl.
The main however seems stuck the steering clutches are quite stiff??????.
We will see.
I ask him how long she has been setting,he thought a minute and said ________________ prob 30 years.
Anyway my wife fell in love with it because of the old slat roof.
I am trying to talk her into letting me make a yard deal out of it ,but that's prob not going to happen.
I need to thin the herd alittle.Anyone need a d2 part mostly early 5u stuff,but now I have a 5j parts also.
Here are a few pictures of the old gal.

Do you have good "CATERPILLAR" name plates on the radiator shell? I need all (3) of them for my D2. John

I'm not quite sure what i'm going to do with the old gal.
Prob part it out. The UC is the best part of it. Clutches are stuck, main stuck, pony is free????.
Everything is there and the sheet metal is straight.
As every day lingers on by,it is a little less likely that the old gal will ever smoke again......

Hi Roverman,
Machinery Trader shows some outfits that have the fuel filter assembly (3B8830) you are looking for. Go to the site and look for parts for sale. Punch in the part number and see waht comes up. Have you tried going to a good hardware for the brake pedal spring? Seems to me that you should be able to find one that would do the job. Machiner Trader did not show any hits for the pre-cleaner you are looking for. Hope this info helps.😊

Vern,
This one came out of Idaho.
I saw that old slatted canopy it had on it and I just had to have it.
My wife even thought that it was kinda cute.
So,we winched it on the trailer and hauled the old thing home.
I simply got to start selling some of these. I'm afraid the neighbors are going to start complaining.
Changing the subject alittle.I did something the other day that with out question proved my stupidityyyyy.
The d4 that I had bought 6 months ago needed to be moved.Instead of taking the time to start the pony motor,I thought I would pull it with the d2 that was already running.
So, the most convienent place to hook the chain was on the front lower radiator tank, which by the way already had a small chain hang off it.
So, we hooked the chain up ,give my boy some either and away we went!
As soon as he hit the clutch that chain and a nice little hunk of radiator tank came at me like a winchester 270 bullet.
luck was it went under the cat,but now I need to replace the lower tank.
Thanks,just got to be enjoyable!!!!.
Anyway, how stupid can a guy gettttt!
