Since I got the fan belt issue straightened out, I managed to do a few minute drive after it sat for almost 3 years. I discovered very quickly that the right brake grabs. A slight tap on the pedal and the Cat turns 90 degrees before I can stomp on the clutch. The pedal does not want to return unless I come to a complete stop. Then the pedal pops up just like normal. I suspected rust on the drum so I ran with the pedal lightly down but not releasing the steering clutch, hoping to wear the rust off. I pressed the brake harder and the engine tone changed (brake working?) but no difference when I try to steer normally.
Any ideas? When not moving the pedal seems to spring back up just fine, so I dont think the internal spring is bad. I am out of ideas. Grant.
maybe try adjusting the band support screws and see what you get.
Apply the brake and adjust the underside and the rear support screws, after loosening the lock nuts, turn screws in until tight against the band then back them out 1.5 turns and re-tighten the lock nuts.
Brake pedal band adjustment is 3/4 of the way to the floor plate.
