I kept having problems out of my 24v generator/regulator charging system on my D7E so I replaced it with a 10Si Delco 1 Wire Hookup 40 Amp alternator that I found on Amazon. The alternator cost was approximately $120. The old charging system was setup as a positive ground for some unknown reason. I swapped the system back to a negative ground when I installed the alternator. There were no problems with starter rotation when changing from positive to negative ground. I did not have to modify any of the original Cat parts when I changed the generator system over to an alternator system. Engine fan to alternator shaft clearance was tight, I had to grind the end of the alternator shaft down for clearance. I am going to attempt to add pictures...
Very nice. Thanks for the pictures.
