I have purchased a cat 212 grader serial number 1 R 3 3 5 and I am trying to find out when it was built. The yellow paint is peeling and showing olive drab paint under it.

1941 tandem drive grader
D3400 3.75" bore 4 cylinder engine 35 hp
Dry single plate clutch
4F/1R transmission top speed 10.5 mph
13100 shipping weight without options like cab, scarifier etc.

It must have gotten caught up in the government buildup purchase even being produced prior to the declaration of war after December 7 1941. Possibly would find some government stamps on the tags if it went overseas???? I know some tractors were stamped US7 for the US Navy 7th fleet but I also heard that machines that went overseas typically were destroyed or surplused in country instead of being shipped back to the US. Once they started building for the government contracts there apparently were none built for civilian sales even though no 212 graders were listed as built in 1945.
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
