Hi guys,
long story short a few years ago you may remember me posting i wanted to put a new undercarriage on my 6c, i had located a nice undercarriage off of a 6d that had had an engine fire only about 250 to 300 hours after a new undercarriage had been installed. I had the money in hand so decided to purchase the undercarriage but after talking to an older mentor of mine who worked as a salesman for Cat in Kansas and California and all over and owned his own construction company for many years he steered me clear of the used bottom stating that if the components especially the salt rails had gotten very hot that they might be new but could fail due to the heat from the fire. I was pretty bummed thinking for half price i had landed a good deal but he just didn't want me wasting my money if i did have problems and I was thankful for him looking out for me. I don't use this tractor much so i let it sit but now have some smaller jobs lined up and 18 acres of waterways, 8 to 10 terraces, and other field work to and having this tractor in operable condition would be highly beneficial so now I would like to install an undercarriage on it again and was wondering if anybody has ever used ITR or any other aftermarket undercarriage with good luck. I would like to buy Cat but to be honest we just can not afford the initial cost especially since we only put a couple hundred hours a year on this tractor. I did talk to a Berco dealer and for around 12,000.00 we can go that route without labor. Berco has always been a good company from what i have heard but also wanted to see if anybody else had any good suggestions on other brands. Thanks in advance for any and all info guys.

ITR are JUNK!!!!!!! they dont press the links together right, some bind up and some you can see where the outer link is scraping the inner one when they rotate. Saw this on a D6 tractor. Have you tried Cat Classic? Berco has been around a long time.

I was doing undercarriage inspection and sales for about 20 years and went into the job with an open mind, but soon learned, there isn't any alternative which will match the original Cat for overall running cost, the only one which comes a close second is Berco, and for such little use, a reasonable alternative, the rest is high carbon cheese.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
