Hello everyone!

My D315 engine has a bolt-on plate covering a hole for an electric starter. I want to add electric start to save some wear and tear on the pony motor.

What parts are needed for this and where do I get them?

I asked that question myself. The answer starts with a change in generators to 12v or 24v and precups with glow plugs 12v or 24v then there is the matter of the starter ($900+ ) and that's just for starters.. Pun
to have both even becomes more cumbersome. With the duel starting systems you may need duel charging systems Systems that had D315 diesel ele start were generally stand alone generators and some marine applications.
I decided to keep the pony and the D315 tuned to help. But it is not really that bad if one follows the manual; pony starting is so much easier on the diesel because it prelubes all the internal parts in the diesel, brings up the temperature inside the intake of the diesel (and if done right) the combustion of the spinning diesel heats the head quicker. Then when you pop the fuel the D315 comes to life.
Oops forgot ..Heats up cooling system too ... DUH

No that's a first for me... Thanks
I'm a cheap Bass turd and the price tag seemed too high for me. I'm mostly here for the fun of the old rigs anyway so I decided to embrace the pony experience.
