I recently picked up a nice D4D 78A with a 4S blade and 143 Hyd control. It has provisions for manual blade tilt but I was wondering what would be involved to add hydraulic tilt. The operators manual for the 143 hyd control shows an external valve mounted on the RH side of the seat console. Does this mean that the main valve in the tank can be set up for power beyond, or does it require a different valve setup in the tank? What else would be needed, other than the tilt cylinder and brackets? Is this doable, or am I getting into something that I may regret later? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Scott Goff.

If it is truly a #143 two valve tank system it will have power beyond provision for a third valve. The two valve system normally runs the blade and tilt. Third valve is for a ripper or single rear implement.
What is the unit s/n on the tank?

Thanks for the response. I have the original bill of sale and it lists the hyd control as a model 143, serial # 62G3809. I confirmed the serial number on the tank tag.

The 62G1-up series #143 has a single valve in the tank. An option for either a single or double spool remote valve was offered.

Can the single valve (in the tank) be set up for power beyond? Any idea of what would be involved?

As I stated there is provision for remote valve/s. Look on the back of the tank and you will see a jumper housing/plate. Remove this jumper and run lines to and from the remote valve. Cat did it with a bunch of fancy lines and flanges but no reason it can't be done with hose.

Thanks. I'll check it out.
