Does anyone know of where I can obtain an hook on style adapter for my grease gun to fit the 2F1336 grease fitting on the top carrier rollers?

My local Cat dealer in the UK says they are discontinued.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

High pressure grease equipment should not be used on track rollers[per Caterpillar]as extreme pressure may rupture seal material, use volume compressure instead, this pump fills rollers at a relativly low pressure.

John, I have sent you a Private Message regarding the adapter.

Leon, good point about not blowing out the seals by attempting to pump in too much grease.

are they the same thing as rollers and idlers etc on an R2? had the same problem trying to get an adapter for mine, priced it up and it was £127 + vat! :jaw:
in the end what I did was, bust the top part off, your then left with a hole that can be drilled out and tapped to take a standard 1/8 bsp grease nipple.
as has been mentioned here, dont go to nuts with the grease gun and blow the seals out! figured it would be better than having no grease at all. realise this solution may be not to everyones liking and not the best thing to do, but it worked fine on mine and as is she is not going to be working 24/7 anymore, thought that was best way around it!

I can't see a relief valve on the one that McMaster Carr or the one that is on Ebay right now. The relief valve will pop off if the pressure exceeds a few hundred pounds. Normal grease guns exert several thousand pounds of pressure.

i thought one was suppose to oil bellows seals by feel? then one would engage the small handle on the compressor the relieve pressure in the hose. anyway this is the way i been doing it. another big thing with buying fittings they come in 3 or 4 differnt threads. be sure u get the right one 4 your hose thread. hope u don't have that alemite weirdo 27 per inch stuff. cost alot more. good luck.

The relief value in the photo which OM posted came into being because of the shops and service trucks were using hi pressure air compressors, which were the cause of blowing out the seals in the rollers and as well as over greasing. And, yes there are now discontinued from Caterpillar. All of the over greasing was also one…if not the most reason for the 500 hour lube rollers.

By using the Alemite track grease gun (called a compressor), one can feel when the pressure is building up on the handle indicating the roller is full of grease.
