Should be franchise of Caterpillar Inc.!
Caterpillar once had a no orphan policy. If it was Caterpillar, you could buy parts! That all changed, business models and practices changed, those models are based on profit/loss. No business (including clubs as example) can withstand loss, especially when the product is a specialty and demand is low.
The more diversified a business becomes, the greater the necessary inventory and that inventory must be constantly moved, not sitting on a shelf.
Simply put, the demand for items must justify the expense to maintain an inventory and that includes all parts of that inventory, from purchase to delivery.
The board is working on this situation, they are aware of the expectations and it will take time to work through the issues.
Their task is overwhelming, give them the support and understanding as they try to find resolutions to this longstanding problem.
