Last week I answered an ad that stated, five K-rails free if you come pick them up and haul them away. I was lucky enough to be the first responder. Tom and I made a quick trip to check them out. All were in good shape and were exactly what we each have been looking to acquire for some time. However they were in the ground fairly deep as they were retaining some landscape. So a plan was developed which included Dwight's lowbed to haul Tom's Cat 966 over and extract them. I ended up with one , Tom took two and Dwight took two. Everyone won, the homeowner got them removed and he fully understood after watching the 966 work that it took the correct equipment and expertise. The 966 was dancing a bit with the back wheels airborne a number of times pulling them out of the ground.

When I unloaded mine, my old forklift didn't have the capacity to pick up the whole K-rail, so my Ford skip and drag had to help and it lifted just enough to drive the trailer out from under. They are going to put to use making loading ramps.

Good score guys. Iā€™ve been shopping for good, slightly used K rails here; about $250.00 to $800.00 each depending on quantity. Pays to have the proper equipment too. Enjoy. JM

Funny...I watch 'Highway Thru Hell' and the Canadians call them 'No Post' rails.

yea--I guess every body calls them something different for sure---when you want zero deflection on a vehicle hit they are cast with holes in the lower "flange" to drive posts thru--every guide rail and traffic barrier has a defined allowable movement--cable barriers being the largest and these being the least aside from a pored concrete wall

Paso,

I see you even prevailed on Dwight to do the loading. I guess you were the Super. and Tom was the Project Mgr. Good team work never the less. Your 445 would not have left the ground had Deas been in the seat! šŸ˜Š

We need a couple of those for a ramp at Vista museum.

I like to lift heavy items from the end of the loader beams there at the bucket pins.

Jan, that me laugh at loud! Poor Deas... And now he is really wanting to become a Californian for some reason.

Rome, good point. I will do that next time. I just purchased that 445 recently and am learning it's tricks. So far I'm pretty impressed with it.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
