Hello
Just when I almost had my D8 finnished I bought another cat😖mokin:
It's missing it's engine and radiator. The old engine lost one of it's pistons and then the engine was sold for tin can material.*That was 15 years.
Was the original engine D333 or 3304? When it is manufactured? The serial is 90A876

I have located a d333t from a 1969 955H, 3304 from a 1972 955 and 3304NA from a D4. The guy who is selling the D4 engine also has a turbo and exhaust manifold from a 225. Will these engines fit on my loaders transmission?

From what info I have the 950 90A876 is a 1966 model with a D330T engine. This model was produced from 1965 to 1968 with a total production of 3,143 units. There is a good chance that the 3304 will fit but I can not verify.

I believe the engine out of the 955H would be a D330T (4 cylinder) instead of a D333T (6 cylinder), so that might be your best option if it's in good condition. I would guess that swapping a 3304 into the loader would be a "can of worms" even if it bolts into the torque converter housing. Probably lots of small differences where lines and linkages connect on the two engines. The 3304 and the D330C are more similar than the 3304 and D330
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

A VERY LARGE can of worms to be precise. There are pump drives etc to consider and most importantly the Fuel pump settings. Shop around for a good running or at least rebuildable engine to fit your machine or part it out now. If this engine swap is not done right it will cost you all the money you have and still not work.

Oops. I ment D330 but wrote D333.

The problem is that there isn't really many old cat engines from to choose here. I don't think that I get engine from a 950 so I think I have to do it hard way and use engine that I can get. I think the biggest issue is will it fit to the transmission bell housing and converter.

Here's link to my photo album. I hope it works.

The base engine in the 90A 950 and 60A 955H are the same but many peripheral parts are different, not least is the governor, the 955H is designed to run at a constant setting with a hand throttle, the 950 is pedal operated and has a hydrualic boost in it to ease the load on the operator's right foot, the later 950 D330C would probably be easier to fit if you can't get the correct D330B.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
