they spent alot of money for those tire chains
Vulnerable??
Well, there was no ROPS on the queen Mary either.
Something that big tips over you, nothing would save you I'm guessing.
Sold new by Foley Equipment Co, Kansas City, MO 17/8/1998.
Gavin, any idea the sale price?
I saw a 994 in the Wagner shop in Grand Junction that was getting a Certified Cat rebuild. It was stripped down to pretty much the bare frame, but still a big puppy. My friend that worked there said it came from an open pit mine in New Mexico. Said it was 3 semi-loads to get it there, the wheels & tires were one load by themselves. The lug nuts were a whole pallet box full. And they left the bucket at the mine...Had to come by a roundabout route from NM to find bridges that were rated for the load. I don't remember the exact figure of the cost of the rebuild, but it was somewhere in the neighborhood of a million bucks. Yeah, they are big...
i sure the rebuild would be way over a million. that would just get you the motor. i got to check out a new 944K at the cat shop that was going to the mine hear cab just had 2 little joy sticks. the rops is just taken off for shipping that's why it looks so funny. that was a couple of year as ago i have hear that it's had the back counter weights fall off it from bad operating. that would be loud nose
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
Hi, Mog5858.
The bigger Cat loaders have been all joysticks for a good few years now, I worked - briefly - about 13 years ago for a company which had a Komatsu WA500 loader which had both full joysticks and a steering wheel and conventional powershift control. Company policy was that the operators were NOT permitted to use the joysticks arrangement.
I both thoroughly enjoyed and felt very much at home in the few of them that I have operated.
Just my 0.02.
