I recently picked up a cat 955k track loader for use on my property. Its in pretty decent shape but after i had it trailered home, i just happened to kick the track to get a clump of grass off and noticed the left sprocket moved. i grabbed the sprocket with both hands and tugged on it back and forth and it does have some play in it, right side is tight. I raised the machine and split the track and by itself there is no play when the sprocket is unloaded, when i reassembled everything and put the machine back on the ground, the play came back. i took the shields off and noticed what looks like a spanner type nut with a locking bolt in it. Is there some sort of bearing adjustment that can be done on it, or is there a bigger problem going on? i have books for a 955l but the pictures dont show that big spanner that i have on this machine. Serial # is 61h323. thanks for any advice

The procedure is about the same for all of them.

Before adjusting it is recommended (but not required) to back off and re-torque the axle retaining nut.(your "locknut" in the picture) Spec should be about 300-400 ft-lbs

To adjust remove the adjusting nut lock (not shown in your picture)and loosen the clamping bolt (your "lock" in the picture).
Tighten the adjusting nut (your "spanner" in the picture) in a counterclockwise direction as tight as possible with a 5 ft. extension on the spanner wrench.
Tighten the clamping bolt/nut and install the lock.
