Hey guys, what is the approximate weight of a 955H power shift. My neighbor has got one that has to be sold and/or moved since the property has been sold and I have been asked to get it running and perhaps buy it. I think the rack may be stuck as they can't get her to fire off. Any ideas on value in the present state. Undercarriage is supposed to be pretty good with bolt on sprocket segments. It has been quite a while since I've seen it and I kow then it needed some external engine work, ie leaking injection lines and bad exhaust manifold but it does have low hours on a Cat rebuild that was done in the early 90's. It has been shed kept mostly and is curently locked in the shed. They talked with a dozer salvage and he said he thought $5-10K. I have worked on these machines 10 years ago but never really knew the weight. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Jim

If that is the case I could winch it on our gooseneck and haul it home. I would not want to go very far on 2 10,000 lb axles but I don't need to. As long as I don't rip the winch out of the neck trying to get it drug on it should work.

You'll need to release the steering clutches and have the bucket off the ground to get it to roll. Have to have the engine running for both as far as I know.

Not sure about an H series but my old power shift K series was loaded twice by putting the pull line under the bucket and attaching to the machine so it lifted on the loader while pulling. You can put the control in float or tie it back to raise position. The steering clutches I tied back and they released.

Same thing I did about two weeks ago with a 955 12A track loader, but it's direct drive. I just left it in neutral. Took two of us about 3 hours to load it on the trailer with a 12 ton Army surplus come along. It only weighed about 11 tons.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
