Was pushing up some topsoil today when my 955H 60a06119 dropped a cylinder. It was intermittant at first. I cracked the injector lines and found it to be the number 4 cyl not firing. Of course it's the hardest to get to behind the turbo. I have black smoke that is hevier than usual under load and heavy bluish smoke at idle. I'm thinking I have a bad injector. Does this sound like I'm in the right track? I don't have a proper engine manual for this machine and the machine manual doesn't go into much depth on the subject. It looks like it takes a special socket to remove these. Anyone know off hand the injector nut tool part number? Could also use the correct part number for the injectors. My parts book for the machine only shows fuel setup for sn 6231 and up, even though the book is supposed to cover machines starting at sn5000.

I guess you could always swap the injectors around and see if the miss shifts would help to confirm before spending any money

I would be thinking you are on the right track

Paul, That's my plan to start with. Before I can do that I need to get the correct tool to remove them.

It doesn't take any special tool to remove the injector. It's the pre-combustion chamber that takes the special splined wrench.

Thanks OM. I didn't look at it before I posted as it was still hot as a pistol from working.

It can never be anything easy. Long story short. Found this when I got into things.

I have a friend in Coudersport, PA that says he has a 955 motor for parts he's been trying to sell. Not sure if the series is the same, but it probably could be bought reasonable since he sold his 955 a while back. PM me if you think you are interested and I'll get you his info.

Did you find any damage besides the bent pushrod? A local fellow here had a 955 on his farm that would bend a pushrod about once every couple years. He would replace it and be on the way again.

I Stopped working on it when I found the bent push rod. Had some other equipment that needed attention. I need to get the hood off the 955 for better access and ability to see down into the engine. It had good oil pressure and never made any expensive sounds after the cylinder dropped so I'm thinking it may be just the push rod. It appears the pushrod failed at the spot weld at the bottom end. I'll post what I find when I get a chance to work on it again. I'm on vacation next week, so should have time.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
