I run my 955 cat out of oil in the steering assist. it was working fine and i shut it off, when i got back on it about 30 min later it was very hard to steer. I've added oil now but I must have air in lines. I opened bleeder screw that I found and run it with bleeder open but didn't get any oil to come out. It seems like it has lost its prime or something. Any ideas? Thanks

That system has a long suction run from the bevel gear compartment up to the front mounted pump. May have to prime the pump to get it working. I don't see any mention of a bleed screw???

Thanks for the reply, do you know how would i go about priming the pump? Is the pump mounted on the engine on the left side towards the fromt with the 2 half inch lines running into it? Mine has a bleeder screw located directly under the seat where the line runs into the rear end... maybe someone added it there later.

Pump is mounted on the upper left portion of the front face of the torque converter housing, about under the air cleaner. Suction and discharge lines are different size. Yes that "bleeder" appears to be an add on to the pressure line coming from the filter housing, don't see where that would do much good.

Priming instructions are with pump removed, fill the pump with clean oil and rotate the splined shaft. I don't see any quick way of priming without breaking connections. Priming action is a tough one to get verticle lift to the top of the steering clutch case cover instead of coming off low on the main case like other units.

Might try access by removing the short hose coupling coming of the suction filter and rig up a hose for priming.
