Well after a lot of sitting I was finally able to find an old in the blok crankshaft grinder. I also got an oversize bearing from the net... So now, my rod bearing is reinstalled, and the pan is back on.
SO I cranked her and she started up!
Now: I havn't tried to put it in gear yet, havn't hooked back the hydralic pump yet, or brought it back down to the cross support.... But, when I started the engine there was no apparent control over engine speed. It didn't matter what position the throttle was in, it just seemed to run. (I had to cut the fuel at the tank to get it to stop). Any ideas what I need to check? The throttle is connected to the govenor, but again turning it doesn't seem to change anything. i bought this thing at an auction, so I have no idea what may have been done.
Also , this thing is really loud.. realy, really lould, I guess they are all like that? I am worried it might fly apart from my rod/crank job 😊 Its not smoking, and is pretty hard to start, I had to use a bit of ether.

Take the side cover off the fuel injection housing and check for a stuck rack....pretty common problem for long time resters.

I was going to ask if this sounded like a "stuck rack" after reading a bunch of D2 fuel issue posts...
I don't really understand how this rack effects the injectors. I will see if I can look at a pic in the manual.
Does it move the injector pumps closer to a cam? Thnx

No,it's a spiral groove in the pump elements that controls the amount of fuel been injected.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
