I've got no way to scan what I have on the 922b..........I think the 944 is the same......not sure which type ours is, have never looked at the (non-functional) brakes.

But, there were two versions of the air over hydraulic brake system on those loaders. One had a hydraulic master cylinder coupled to an integrated air booster unit which could provide manual braking when air pressure was lost vs the other type which had a simpler standard air brake chamber actuating a standard master cylinder which provided no braking if air pressure was lost. The later type used simple treadle valves, air brake chambers, master cylinders etc.

Both types have a transmission neutralizer valve on the left pedal but not on the right pedal. A double check valve is installed between the two pedals to allow each pedal to independently control the air chamber on the brake booster.

System air pressure pop-off on air resevoir should release at 150 psi and minimum operating pressure at the brake actuator or booster is 100-120 psi.

On the hydraulic side of the system, it is a simple single chamber master cylinder pushing brake fluid to all 4 wheels.
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time๐Ÿ˜„

Thanks; took the break apart on one wheel in september- put it together today after honing and cleaning. The master cylinders are equal twins, but all new parts ordered for them were wrong parts - disappointing. I'll get through winter without breakes. Have three more wheels to clean up - do I have to disassemble everything to get to the brakes, or is there an easier way? The good thing with disassembling is that I can lift each unit by hand ๐Ÿ˜Š

Best wishes for x-mas from 70 degrees north in Norway. Need more snow now to be happy.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
